Energy Management helps local school to ‘grow-it-alone’
Bradford-on-Avon-based firm Energy Management has donated £1,000 to a neighbouring primary school as it continues lay down deep roots within the local community.
In what has become an annual partnership between the energy management consultancy and Fitzmaurice Primary School, pupils were asked to illustrate what the festive period means to them.
This year’s winning entry came from the Robin and Swift class groups and the design will now adorn the front cover Energy Management’s annual Christmas e-card.
And as a thank you for all their efforts, Energy Management have agreed to fund the school’s latest eco-friendly project.
This year the money will go towards the construction of large new outdoor planters which will be used to grow flowers and vegetables.
Prized pumpkins!
As a team, Energy Management took part in a Halloween pumpkin competition, organised by REED, one of the UK's leading employment agencies. The challenge was to create the most original pumpkin to win. Harry, our apprentice, carried out the carving, while account manager Lewis used his artistic flair to draw the original design and shape onto the pumpkin. We are really pleased to say we managed to win one of the prizes and a box of biscuits for the office, thank you, REED!
Bradford-on-Avon Business Awards
As a rapidly expanding company employing local people, Energy Management is proud to be a part of Bradford-on-Avon’s 450-strong business community and a member of BoA Business.
BoA Business is an organisation that enables companies within the Wiltshire town and its local area to interact with one another in an informal manner and share ideas about how to help improve the local economy.
In October, an awards dinner and ceremony is held to celebrate the year's success stories and we're delighted to have been nominated in five different categories.

Quiz night raises over £1,000 for local charity
A charity quiz night at The Boathouse in Bradford-on-Avon raised over £1,000 for Hope Nature Centre.
The event was organised by Energy Management and sold out with 80 guests enjoying a fun-filled evening.
Energy Management CEO Steve Retford said “Several members of staff visit the animal park and café at Hope Nature Centre and wanted to do something to support the charity. We were planning a staff social night and thought it would be great to combine this with a fundraising event. My team really outdid themselves with organising such a fantastic night and engaging with so many local companies who gave raffle and auction prizes to help us to reach such an amazing figure of over £1,000.”
Hope Nature Centre will be using the funds to finish work on the community bus, which is due to be in use from January and will have a huge impact on local schools and community groups with a wide programme of events and activities planned for 2019.

Young star racing ahead thanks to sponsorship deal
Motorbike racing prodigy Jay Able takes after his name when it comes to hurtling around race tracks at high speeds.
The 12-year-old from Westbury in Wiltshire is one of the fastest in his age group on two wheels, having swept all before him in a fantastic start to the season despite a step up in grade.
Riding his Aprilia RS125 bike – capable of speeds of up to 100mph, Jay claimed a hat-trick of trophies at the recent Anglesey meeting of the NG (North Gloucestershire) Road Racing Series and is also top of the Formula 125 EMRA (East Midlands Racing Association) Championship after winning both the opening rounds.
Last season Jay finished fourth in the British Mini GP70 class and reached the final stages of the inaugural British Talent Cup – a stepping stone for young British riders to make it in MotoGP – despite competing against lads up to four years older than himself.
Supported by Bradford-on-Avon company Energy Management and other sponsors, Jay’s schedule is set to become even busier when he turns 13 in July and becomes eligible to compete in the Junior SuperSport 300 Series.
Apprentice takes charity dive
Jumping 10,000 feet out of a plane is not most people’s idea of a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
However, for Energy Management apprentice Lewis Payne and his girlfriend Trudie Dawson the sky-dive was worth every moment of anxiety.
Between them, the daring duo helped raise nearly £700 towards the Wessex Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre, a charity close to Trudie’s heart as her mother has MS.
“The centre helps Trudie’s mum on a regular basis, providing support for both her and her family, and helping with therapies such as physio, an oxygen chamber, reflexology and counselling. We’ve raised the money in the hope it will help more people in the same situation,” said Lewis.
Lewis hasn’t ruled out a repeat jump in the future, either. “I surprised myself as I found it more fun than I did scary. I might be an adrenaline junkie after all!”
School partnership strengthens with festive gift
Fitzmaurice Primary School has today received a £1,000 donation from Energy Management to help towards the next phase of their Digital Leadership Programme, which started last year with the aim of safeguarding children online.
Energy Management founder Gary Weston, whose own children are former pupils of the school, handed over a cheque to Fitzmaurice headmistress, Tracey Dunn, together with art supplies and Santa sacks full of goodies for the winners of the annual design a Christmas card competition.
Last year’s champion designer, Idris, once again took the top prize worth £25 with Alba in second (both pictured) and Greta third. Idris’ colourful picture was used as the centrepiece of Energy Management’s Christmas e-card, delivered to clients up and down the country.
Spirit of Christmas wins local school £1,000 donation
Fitzmaurice Primary School in Bradford-on-Avon were celebrating today after one of their pupils won Energy Management’s annual competition to design the cover of the company’s Christmas e-card. Over 350 Primary schoolchildren from the Wiltshire town entered the competition and the judging panel, made up of Energy Management staff, were impressed by the high standard of artwork produced.
Idris (pictured left) won first place for his colourful depiction of Christmas, with fellow Fitzmaurice pupils, Megan and Daisy, chosen as runners-up. All three received Christmas goody bags from Energy Management owner Gary Weston, his wife Jacy and Energy Management Account Manager Emma Street.
“They were all excited to receive their prizes and it was wonderful to see their smiling faces,” said Emma.
“Our festive e-card will be going out to customers later this week adorned with Idris’ lovely work.”
As a reward for winning the competition, Energy Management will be sponsoring a school project focusing on internet safety, worth £1,000.
